Bad ball hitter
A bad ball hitter is one that likes to take swings at pitches that are outside of the strike zone. There were hitters in former days that preferred some types of inside, outside, high or low pitches. This happens much less often in the current game.
People sometimes say that Vladimir Guerrero is a bad ball hitter, and it was sometimes said that Yogi Berra was a bad ball hitter. Yogi, for his own part, said this about bad balls:
"If I can hit it, it's a good pitch."
