Angelo State University started out as San Angelo College , a two-year school, from 1928 until 1965. Angelo State College was then organized as a four-year school, then changed to its current name in 1969. ASU first sponsored baseball in 1967. The school revived the baseball program in 2005. Angelo State won its first national championship in 2023.
