Alixon Suárez has caught in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
He was signed by Boston Red Sox scouts Ernesto Gomez and Craig Shipley in November 2010. [1] He hit .224/.369/.286 with 39 walks in 62 games for the 2011 DSL Red Sox, while throwing out 39% of those who tried to steal. He was back with the same team in 2012 and improved his hitting (.270/.399/.425, 15 2B, 39 BB, 41 R in 63 G) while throwing out 37% of would-be base-thieves. He led his team in slugging and was 3 walks shy of making the Dominican Summer League top 10. He came stateside in 2013 with the GCL Red Sox and hit .211/.254/.266. His offensive production remained low in 2014 with the Lowell Spinners (.209/.267/.373) but he threw out 41% on the bases. He split 2015 between Lowell (2 for 23) and the Portland Sea Dogs (1 for 10, 2B).
He resurfaced in 2017 with the independent Winnipeg Goldeyes and hit .274/.361/.321 in a back-up role. He made his Venezuelan Winter League debut and hit .190/.227/.238 in 7 games for the Cardenales de Lara. He made Venezuela's team for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, joining some former major leaguers on the roster.
