Biographical Information[edit]

Alejandro Zuaznábar has played baseball in Cuba, Venezuela, the USA and France.

Zuaznábar hit .268/.336/.356 in two seasons for the Metropolitanos in the Cuban Serie Nacional, fielding .928 as an infielder. He then defected from Cuba. He signed with the New York Mets and played two years in their system. He hit .250/.327/.318 and fielded .973 at 3B in 11 games for the 2005 VSL Mets. With the 2006 Kingsport Mets, he batted .244/.320/.328 and fielded .931. He led Appalachian League third basemen with 146 assists and 13 double plays.

His US career over, Alejandro signed with the Montpellier Barracudas in France's Division Elite for 2011. He had a great year, producing at a .402/.444/.522 clip and fielding .943 at SS; he was the club's second-best hitter after Anthony Cros. He was 6th in the Division Elite in average, 10th in slugging, 5th in hits (37), tied for 8th in total bases (48), was second in assists (82, two behind Florian Peyrichou) and tied for second with 14 total bases (two shy of Peyrichou).
