Biographical Information

Al Clark was a major league umpire from 1976 to 2001.

Clark was a sportswriter in his hometown of Trenton, NJ before becoming an umpire. He began his umpiring career in the Midwest League in 1972. He then worked the Texas League in 1973, the Venezuelan Winter League and the American Association in 1974-1975. Clark began umpiring in the American League in 1976. Clark was an umpire in the game in which Cal Ripken Jr. broke Lou Gehrig's record for consecutive games played. He worked the 1984 All-Star Game and 1995 All-Star Game.

In addition to writing and umpiring, Clark has volunteered with anti-drug programming and is an amateur magician.
