Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Aaron Cox played in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim system in 2015, 2016 and 2018. He was taken by the club in the 19th round of the 2015 amateur draft.

With the Orem Owlz in 2015, he went 4-0 with a 3.08 ERA in 24 relief appearances, striking out 35 in 38 innings and posting a 1.237 WHIP. The next year, he was 3-2 with a 3.94 ERA in 33 games for the Burlington Bees. After missing 2017, he returned with the Inland Empire 66ers in 2018, going 0-1 with a 4.11 ERA in 11 games.

His career was cut short when he died at the age of 24 from complications from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He was the brother-in-law of baseball player Mike Trout. Trout named his first-born son, Beckham Aaron Trout, born in 2020, in his honor.
