79th Spring Koshien Game 5

The skies would begin opening up for this this game featuring 3rd timers Wakayama Shogyo and Kumamoto Kogyo making its 20th appearance. Kumamoto would open the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd as an errant throw to 3rd by C Fukuda would send 1B Watanabe Takegi home. Wakayama would come right back in the top of the 3rd. A two-out double to right-center field by LF Tsuji would plate 2B Maehara.

The teams would trade runs until the bottom of the 5th where with one out, SS Fujimura bloops a single to right. LF Kaku-kun would get hit for the third consecutive time putting runners on 1st and 2nd. On the next pitch, CF Imamura would take the ball to center, plating both runners. Imamura would follow them home on a single by clean-up hitter Watanabe Hiroya. It would be all the offense they needed as they move on with a 6-4 win.
