2012 American League Most Valuable Player Award

From BR Bullpen

The winner of the 2012 American League Most Valuable Player Award was Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers.

There was quite a debate before the vote between "traditionalists", who saw Cabrera's winning of the Triple Crown - the first since 1967 as a historical achievement - and the more sabermetrically-oriented writers who considered that Mike Trout, whose WAR was much higher, should have been a clear winner. The traditionalists won out this time.
