Dai-Nippon Professional Baseball League

The Dai-Nippon Professional Baseball League, Japan's first professional league is established on February 5. The league is founded with seven teams and begins play in April. The league plays in two seasons, in the Spring/Summer and Fall.

Postseason

The Osaka Tigers and Tokyo Kyojin, met after the season to determine a fall season champion as each team had won two and a half tournaments. The series was a best-of-three affair at Koto, Tokyo's Suzuki Stadium in mid-December. The first game was played on December 9 with the Kyojin defeating the Tigers by a score of 5 - 3. On the following day, the Tigers reversed their fortunes, defeating the Giants by the same 5 -3 score. The third and final game for the season championship was played on December 11. The Kyojin won the game 4 -2, to take the season title. The results of all three games were added to their season totals.

High School Baseball

The 22nd National High School Baseball Championship featured a total of 665 schools competing for 22 spots in the finals at Koshien. In the championship game Gifu Shogyo High School (Gifu) defeated Heian High School (Kyoto) by a score of 9 - 1.

The 13th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament featured 20 schools competing in the tournament at Koshien. In the championship game Aichi Shogyo High School (Aichi) defeated Kiryu High School (Gumma) by a score of 2 - 1.

The Waseda team toured the United States in the spring and did not participate in the league.

International Baseball

A Japanese team was scheduled to play a team representing the United States at the Olympics in Berlin, Germany, but the team withdrew before the start of the games. The event was instead played by two American teams.
