Álvaro Noriega was a minor league catcher.

Noriega spent four years in the New York Yankees system. He hit .246/.286/.333 for the 2012 DSL Yankees 2, fielding .967 at catcher and .980 at 1B. In 2013, he improved to .295/.337/.389 with the GCL Yankees 2 and fielded .981 behind the dish. He hit .252/.284/.293 for the 2014 GCL Yankees 1, fielding .987 at C and throwing out 31% of attempted base-stealers. He split 2015 between the GCL Yankees 1 (4 for 23, 2B, BB), Staten Island Yankees (1 for 25, 2B) and Charleston RiverDogs (.227/.261/.250 in 12 G). His batting line was .242/.278/.310 in 164 games, 51 runs and 54 RBI. He fielded .980 in 123 games at C and .982 in 27 games at 1B. He threw out 28% of those who tried to steal.

He hit .300/.364/.350 with four runs and six RBI in six games for the Colombian national team that won Bronze in the 2016 South American Championship. He batted .429/.579/.429 with 6 RBI in five games as Colombia won Gold in the 2017 Bolivarian Games, their first Gold in 44 years at the Bolivarian Games. He tied Jonathan Saavedra of Panama for second in the event in RBI, one behind Venezuela's Jesús Ugueto.
